Our Practice

We are an award-winning RIBA Chartered Practice, with a diverse portfolio of projects across London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.

Atelier Brown are passionate about design, with every project representing an opportunity for us to help our clients in realising dream new spaces for their homes. We pride ourselves on being able to offer the dynamism and drive of a young up-and-coming practice, coupled with the expertise of a team who boast significant architectural experience - with our team having previously worked for a number of prominent practices across the country.

Atelier Brown provide a full architectural service for all types of domestic projects; from initial concept and feasibility design, all the way through technical development and onto contract administration and management of construction on site. We combine 25 years of architectural and construction industry experience within our team.

We bring value to any project through creative-thinking, a sensitive and considered approach to place-making and an extensive knowledge of how buildings are built in the best way financially, qualitatively and sustainably. We work hard to consistently deliver our work to meet timeframes of even the most fast-paced project. Our expertise lies in extracting joy and value from even the most complex of sites and buildings; whether that be by sensitively incorporating a complementary addition to a historic and listed building, or by imaginatively overhauling a home in need of thoughtful improvement.

Who We Are

Tom Brown BA Hons PG Dip Arch ARB RIBA

Tom is an experienced Senior Architect, having worked for several prominent practices in London, Manchester and Cambridge in his career to date. He has worked as project lead on a number of high-profile schemes across the country.

Tom has benefited from extensive experience of working on buildings and sites of historic importance; having successfully designed and delivered multiple schemes for extensions, alterations and renovations  to Grade-I, II* and II listed buildings, sites within AONB’s and Conservation Areas,  as well as a large-scale masterplan for the re-development of a hugely sensitive site within a UNESCO World Heritage Area.

Tom brings a combination of creativity and artistic design flair to his work, with a strong grounding in technical detailing and project management. He has a strong sense of place; valuing architectural history and advocating a contextual approach to creating new buildings and places. He is also driven by the more contemporary demands in architectural projects, such as sustainability and inclusivity.

Tom enjoys problem-solving and can utilise this skill during both the conceptual design of a project as well as during its construction on site.

Rita Nunes Prof. Lv4 Technico de Desenho

Rita is a practitioner who is driven by a desire to break-free of some of the constraints of working in more established practices; allowing her natural design flair to thrive in her own design studio, balancing this with the rigours of full-time motherhood. Whilst she plays an important role in managing complex projects through the construction process, her primary focus is interior design.

She had worked for many years in practice and most recently held a senior position within the design team for a high-end housebuilder and developer in Hertfordshire. Rita is therefore comfortable working with demanding clients, constantly striving to achieve maximum quality in all her work.

Rita’s passion is in the detail; whether it be a bespoke piece of joinery designed to compliment a space, or an external junction designed to complete a beautiful facade. Rita brings a pragmatic attitude to all of her work, and diligently works to any scale of client budget.
