Our Practice
We are an award-winning RIBA Chartered Practice, with a diverse portfolio of projects across London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.
Atelier Brown are passionate about design, with every project representing an opportunity for us to help our clients in realising dream new spaces for their homes. We pride ourselves on being able to offer the dynamism and drive of a young up-and-coming practice, coupled with the expertise of a team who boast significant architectural experience - with our team having previously worked for a number of prominent practices across the country.
Atelier Brown provide a full architectural service for all types of domestic projects; from initial concept and feasibility design, all the way through technical development and onto contract administration and management of construction on site. We combine 25 years of architectural and construction industry experience within our team.
We bring value to any project through creative-thinking, a sensitive and considered approach to place-making and an extensive knowledge of how buildings are built in the best way financially, qualitatively and sustainably. We work hard to consistently deliver our work to meet timeframes of even the most fast-paced project. Our expertise lies in extracting joy and value from even the most complex of sites and buildings; whether that be by sensitively incorporating a complementary addition to a historic and listed building, or by imaginatively overhauling a home in need of thoughtful improvement.
Tom Brown BA Hons PG Dip Arch ARB RIBA
Tom is an experienced architect and the founder of the practice, bringing a wealth of expertise gained through senior roles at leading studios in London, Manchester, and Cambridge. He has led the design and delivery of a wide range of high-profile projects, including masterplans for new towns in Palestine, a flagship multi-million-pound visitor centre for the Wildlife Trust, and a series of complex residential developments within the grounds of a highly sensitive Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Tom has particular expertise in working with historic buildings and sensitive sites. He has successfully delivered extensions, alterations, and renovations to Grade I, II* and II listed buildings, alongside projects located in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Areas, and a major redevelopment within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Blending creativity with technical rigour, Tom brings both artistic vision and precision to his work. He has a strong sense of place and a contextual approach to design—valuing architectural heritage while also addressing contemporary imperatives such as sustainability, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.
A natural problem-solver, Tom applies his skills from early concept design through to delivery on site. His collaborative and hands-on approach is supported by practical experience, having successfully completed several self-build residential schemes of his own.
